Project Manager - Beijing

The project managers for each partner will be responsible for the effective running and control of all work streams to ensure the objectives of the project are achieved with the agreed timeframes and budget. Specific responsibilities of the project managers include;

  • To be the main channel of communication between the project team and the Project Steering Committee
  • Responsibility for successful completion of Project, in accordance with the Project Execution Plan
  • Managing all of their respective Project Team Members
  • Developing & maintaining, in conjunction with the partner Project Manager, the goals and objectives of the Project and Project Plan
  • Developing and disseminating the goals and objectives of the project and project plans to Team members based on decisions made by the Project Steering Committee and partner Project Managers
  • Co-ordinating with the partner Project Manager in the making of final decisions in relation to business and information issues on deliverables
  • Monitoring and reviewing project progress and advising status to Project Steering Committee and providing a Weekly Progress Report
  • Assisting in the formulation, deployment and maintenance of the Project Execution Plan
  • Co-ordinating and allocating appropriate resources, in a timely manner, to project activities
  • Supervising and monitoring project progress and reviewing & controlling the effectiveness of project execution performed by all Project resources
  • Monitoring and controlling the quality of the deliverables
  • Managing and monitoring the project budget jointly to ensure expenditure is within agreed guidelines
  • Implementation & adherence to agreed quality and standards guidelines within the Project
  • Attending all regular project status meetings

To ensure quality communications it is suggested that both Project Managers be bi-lingual (English and Mandarin).

The Project Manager will be expected to work predominantly in China.

Key Strengths

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written in Mandarin and English
    • Able to communicate and present ideas, outcomes and issues to key stakeholders at CEO and Executive level
  • Strong leadership capabilities – able to influence a diverse group of people to work together as a team to achieve goals
  • Customer focused and delivery oriented
  • Ability to work together in cooperation with partner project manager
  • Works well under pressure
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to work to schedule and budget
  • Significant experience (at least 5 years experience) of managing complex projects
  • Banking experience (in China) an advantage
  • Willingness and ability to locate to China for duration of project (12-18 months)
