Senior Financial Analyst - New York

Misys PLC, is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst who will partner with our Professional Services function.  Misys Professional Services is a world class customer facing consulting and education business with operations around the globe.  This individual will be the primary business partner for the two Vice Presidents of PS and will report directly to the CFO for Global Services. 


 


Key components of the role:

Analysis, and support of the overall P&L for the Global Services business and the components related to our Treasury & Capital Markets business.  This includes our Consulting business, our Academy (Education) and our Funded Development business.  This role includes the following

  • Ensuring proper revenue and expense recognition for professional services contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition for Professional Services revenue and profit as part of overall multi-element transactions typical in a software company.
  • Responsible for reviewing the output of the monthly revenue reporting, and analyzing variances and trends in the business
  • Revenue and profit forecasting
  • Enabling Line PS Directors and teams responsible for business results with information and analysis necessary to meet monthly, quarterly and full year targets; proactively identifying weaknesses or shortfalls in business operations and proposing remediation measures or course corrections needed.  Developing full year budget for responsible functions in conjunction with the overall corporate and business unit processes.
  • Perform creative, high quality analyses on financial information to ensure its accuracy, identify potential issues, and help drive change that add value to the business
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Managing risk and complexity in the business, proactively highlighting areas for improvement
  • Develop proactive understanding of changes in business environment and financial ramifications; rapidly understand business issues and determine root causes.
  • Continuously assess and amend metrics and trends to provide proactive information on risks and opportunities; compare actual results to assumptions inherent in prior forecasts.
  • Financial analysis and development for new business opportunities for the company impacting the Professional services business and support framework and process for spending on new products and initiatives.
  • Actively participate in creation of Strategic Plan. 

Education//Experience Requirements:

  • BA/BA in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years experience in Finance or Business, including experience with Planning/Analysis; experience in operating environment preferred. Prior experience working in a Professional Services business, either for a large services organization or ideally for a services business as part of a Software company.
  • High level of initiative and drive
  • Possess a natural sense of ownership for projects and duties
  • Proven analytical skills; Analytical thinker who instinctively considers business influences to explain financial variances.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for credibility at all levels of the organization including executives
  • Strong technical and PC skills (particularly Microsoft Excel)
  • Informal leadership qualities with ability to drive change effectively across functional areas
