For years, the tough decision facing any organisation has been whether to buy a system from a vendor or to build in-house. The obvious advantages of buying software are the time-to-market and the rich functionality that has been developed over many years by the vendor. With the build-it-yourself approach you get complete control over the system, plus the fact you can make sure it does all the things that are important to you.
At Misys, we realise that there are advantages to both approaches, which is why we supply not just a rich set of functionality, but an equally rich set of development tools and APIs.
- Scope of customisability
- Extend the Misys Summit data model to capture information critical to you
- Add new trade types unique to your organisation
- Integrate your own financial models, removing the need to rely on spreadsheets
- Add your own reports to the system instead of having to manipulate data downstream
- Call Misys Summit functionality from other in-house systems to ensure consistency
- Define the workflow in Misys Summit to match your business processes
The Misys Summit eToolkit
The eToolkit allows you to call Misys Summit functionality via COM, CORBA, Java and SOAP, giving you the ability to:
- Create Java applets that can utilise Misys Summit functions, or call the Misys Summit database directly
- Price trades in Excel using Misys Summit data and/or models
- Use client or sales tools that allow the booking of deals straight into Misys Summit
By means of simple naming conventions, we can ensure that there are no clashes between your code and ours. Additionally, the Meta Data Layer means that the data model is self-describing and stored within the database itself.
These are just two of the factors that ensure that when a new version of Misys Summit is released - it is straightforward to upgrade the core system AND keep your own developments.
Misys Summit gives you the best of both worlds.
