Management Information - Effective Planning and Control

In designing Equation, we recognise that different parts of the business have different information needs. Day-to-day running of the business requires regular operational reporting, provided by Equation's list of more than 250 standard reports. For detailed analysis purposes specially designed systems are needed, systems to help executives visualise the complex operations of their bank in an intuitive manner. And between these there is a third category of information needs - where information is required on an ad-hoc, short term basis and often on short notice.

Standard Reports

Included among Equation's 250 standard reports are the following:

Trial balances;
General ledger reports;
Balance sheets;
Profit and loss statements;
Cash flow projections;
Risk management reports;
Profitability analyses.

Report production is managed by the report control system, which allows the bank to schedule reports and direct output for central or remote printing.

Ad-hoc Reports

The bank can design its own reports, as report structures, languages, headings, narratives, subtotals, totals and printing sequences are all user-definable. As the Equation database is compatible with SQL standards, information can be extracted and manipulated by OLAP tools.

Visualisation Tools

Webform, an integrated module, is a sophisticated analysis and reporting application. With this module, users can manipulate data extracted from Equation reports, import data from other systems and create their own reports to address specific requirements. The analyser component automates the comparison of Equation financial reports against budgets / forecasts and provides flexible cost allocation functionality. The profitability component automates the extraction of profitability statistics to facilitate income and expense analysis against budgets.

Misys Enterprise Analytics is an optional component that provides a wide range of multi-channel analysis features. The system provides facilities to analysis the customer database, define segments, create campaigns for those segments, run and monitor the effectiveness of those campaigns interactively.

Archival

Equation provides advanced archival and retrieval functionality for reports, both in paper and electronic format via dedicated optical reporting systems. Archived reports can be automatically converted into a COLD storage package of choice, for example Misys’ Optical Reporting Facility (ORF) or Datastore 32, alleviating the need to print reports. ORF is a report-querying tool that enables data to be interrogated online, quickly and easily, within a secure environment. The information can be written to an optical jukebox that can hold vast quantities of archived data securely. This facility will reduce costs, as all archived data is stored on a designated database meaning that storage space for filing is drastically reduced. It also allows for quick response to clients’ queries.
