Innovative approach to transform treasury & capital markets institutions operational efficiency in transaction processing makes Misys Opics Plus an award winning solution
10th October 2006 - Misys Banking Systems has been named as one of five vendors to win Microsoft's prestigious Innovator Award in Financial Services. The company was awarded the accolade in the Treasury & Capital Markets category for its Opics Plus solution, the next-generation smart client version of Misys Opics.
"We're obviously delighted to have Opics Plus recognised by Microsoft in these prestigious awards", commented David Stewart, Opics Product Manager, Misys Banking Systems. "We are constantly working to ensure that our clients benefit from best of breed solutions that will best enable them to conduct their business. We have invested significant time and money over the last two years in re-architecting and re-engineering Opics into a service oriented architecture and it is a wonderful validation of our efforts to be recognised by Microsoft in this way."
This is the second year that Microsoft has presented Innovator Awards, which it confers on Microsoft user companies that it feels have embraced new technologies and initiatives to better serve customers. Microsoft honoured five financial firms and five vendors and chose Misys Opics Plus following outstanding results in benchmarking tests at Microsoft laboratories. One major global bank using Misys Opics Plus recently reported a fourfold improvement in STP transaction processing volumes.
Misys Opics Plus has been developed as a single product, as such it handles vanilla and complex derivatives, fixed income and equity and treasury trades on one platform. Opics Plus, the .Net version of the predecessor, Misys Opics, gives optimal performance, enhanced functionality and a Microsoft architecture that enables multi-tiered and parallel processing. The service also ensures improved usability and provides a scalability that can meet anticipated volume growth in the future.
Other key highlights of Opics Plus include an intuitive user interface designed to offer improved levels of flexibility and adaptability, a customisable desktop that can be tailored to the preferences of both individuals and groups of users and an open architectural framework that keeps the Smart Client separate from the core Opics Plus processing, allowing easy substitution of an alternative user interface.
"Moving Misys Opics to the .Net environment was a natural progression for the extremely successful Opics solution," added Stewart. "Misys Opics Plus gives customers essential scalability to support growth in both future volumes and transaction complexity."
